The meeting of the National Focal Points for the cooperation with the European Environment Agency within European Information and Observation Network EIONET was held on 3-4 June 2014 in the EEA headquarters in Copenhagen.
NFP EIONET meetings are held three times a year, usually in the EEA headquarters in Copenhagen, to discuss by the EEA and NFPs tasks under EEA and EIONET work programme. Key agenda points of the June meeting included further actions needed to implement new EIONET structure for the years 2014-2018, EEA report on the state and outlook of the European environemnt SOER 2015 work schedule, developments in thematic reporting, and several other tasks currently being carried out by the NFPs resulting from their role to coordinate the country cooperation with the EEA. It was also discussed how to improve the knowledge base for meeting the objectives of the 7th European Union Environment Action Programme (7EAP) within the idea of the Shared Environmental Information System SEIS. Polish National Focal Point was represented by Malgorzata Bednarek from the Department of Monitoring and Environmental Information in the Chief Inspectorate for Environmental Protection who also chaired the first session of the meeting opened by Hans Bruyninckx, EEA Executive Director.
