Joint seminar of the European Environment Agency Management Board and Directors of statistical offices and environment agencies under DIMESA was held on the 18th of June in the Eurostat in Luxembourg, dedicated to the development of the knowledge base for the 7th Environmental Action Programme (EAP).
The delegates, referring to the 7EAP priority objectives, discussed inter alia the possibilities for completing the knowledge base for tracking natural capital and for developing a resource-efficient and low-carbon economy, which included the identification of appropriate data, assessing the options for better usage of existing information, setting relevant indicators, as well as discussion on the possible future actions to prepare a roadmap to assess the progress in achieving the 7EAP targets. The Chief Inspectorate for Environmental Protection in Poland was represented by Mr Andrzej Jagusiewicz, Chief Inspector of Environmental Protection and Vice-Chair of EEA MB, who also chaired one of the thematic parallel sessions, and Ms Małgorzata Bednarek from the Department of Monitoring and Environmental Information, representing EEA/EIONET National Focal Point. Central Statistical Office and Ministry of Environment in Poland representatives also took part in the seminar. The seminar was preceded by the 70th EEA Management Board Meeting attended by the Chief Inspector of Environmental Protection.
